Moment of Silence (prior to the match): For former Bulldog Ed Davies who was a Bulldog wrestler in the 1960's and had an impressive record of 99 wins in 100 matches throughout his four-year college career. Ed was named Fresno State's most outstanding athlete in 1963 and in 2005 he was elected to the takedown club Hall of Fame.
Scouting No. 20 North Dakota State
The Bison come into Friday's dual against the Bulldogs with a 2-0 dual record with wins at home over then-No. 17 ranked Northwestern, 26-17 on Nov. 4 and Northern Illinois, 35-4 on Nov. 8.
Five individuals find themselves in the national rankings with 165-pound redshirt junior Andrew Fogarty being the highest-ranked NDSU wrestler at No. 12 by FloWrestling and Trackwrestling. 133-pound redshirt junior Cam Sykora, a South Dakota State transfer, checks in No. 16 in FloWrestling and Trackwrestling while No. 22 Brent Fleetwood at 125 pounds, No. 24 Lorenzo De La Riva at 174 pounds and No. 25 Brandon Metz at heavyweight are all ranked by Trackwrestling,
NDSU is coming off a 7-10 dual meet season a year ago going 1-7 in Big 12 duals with its lone win coming at home over Air Force and a fifth-place finish at the 2018 Big 12 Championships. Fogarty finished as the runner-up at 165 pounds and Sykora placed fifth at 133 pounds as both advanced to the NCAA Championships.
This will be the Bison's first dual in California since Jan. 6, 2014 when NDSU traveled to CSU Bakersfield and left with a 27-12 win.

The Bulldogs open their second year back at home with the first of seven duals at the Save Mart Center this season on Friday night with the program's first-ever match against North Dakota State.
Fresno State went 1-5 at home last season with a 29-13 win over Cal Poly on Jan. 4. In addition to NDSU, the 'Dogs also wrestle Big 12 duals against South Dakota State, Wyoming and Oklahoma as well as non-conference opponents Minnesota, Cal Baptist and Oregon State.
Fresno State leads the Big 12 in home attendance in 2017-18
The 'Dogs finished year one leading the Big 12 and finishing fifth nationally in attendance with an average of 4,566 fans per match.
The Bulldogs had at least 3,700 Red Wave supporters at all six home duals and over 4,000 at four of the six duals. The home opener against No. 14 Illinois on was attended by 6,840 at the Save Mart Center for the third-largest attended dual in Fresno State program history.
'Dogs open Big 12 action in Colorado
Fresno State got Big 12 dual meet action started on the road last Sunday (Nov. 11) with a 34-4 win at Northern Colorado winning nine of 10 matches before traveling to Air Force where they were edged, 19-15 by the Falcons.
Khristian Olivas at 149 pounds, Jacob Wright at 165 pounds, Jackson Hemauer at 184 pounds and AJ Nevills at heavyweight each won both of their matches as Olivas and Nevills each pinned their Northern Colorado opponents.Â
'Dogs in the national rankings
A pair of Bulldogs continue to find themselves in the national rankings as Nevills has moved up to No. 13 by The Open Mat, No. 15 Trackwrestling & FloWrestling, No. 16 by WIN Magazine and No. 19 by InterMat. At 149 pounds, Olivas is ranked No. 16 by Trackwrestling. Nevills and Olivas each qualified for the 2018 NCAA Championships.
Wright off to hot start
Redshirt freshman Jacob Wright has gotten off to a strong start winning his first seven matches of the season. Splitting his time between 157 and 165 pounds, Wright is 5-0 at 157 with four wins last weekend coming at the Northern Colorado Open on his way to the title and is 2-0 at 165 pounds wins over Macoy Flanagan of Northern Colorado, 4-1 and Tanner Johnson of Air Force, 8-3.
Look back at Rutgers Quad Meet
Winning two of three duals on opening weekend, the Bulldogs defeated a pair of Division III opponents in Johnson & Wales, 38-8 and Centenary, 33-9 while falling to No. 13 Rutgers, 30-6 on Nov. 3. The 'Dogs won eight matches in both dual wins with six coming by bonus points in each dual.
AJ Nevills went a perfect 3-0 with a fall, technical fall and a 3-2 overtime win while 125-pound Robert Garcia IV made his Bulldog debut winning his pair of matches with a 4-3 win over Shane Metzler of Rutgers and a 13-5 major decision over Jacy Jones of Centenary.

Fresno State will compete in the second-annual "Battle on the Midway" wrestling showcase, presented by Left Coast Wrestling, taking on Stanford on the flight deck of the famed aircraft carrier USS Midway in San Diego on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
This marks the Bulldogs' second-consecutive appearance in the Battle on the Midway after falling to fellow Big 12 opponent Air Force, 24-12, in the inaugural event last November. Gates are set to open at 6 p.m., with preliminary matches set to start at 6:30 p.m. and the main event featuring the Bulldogs and Cardinal will get underway at 7:15 p.m.
Eight newcomers join the 'Dogs this season
In addition to the eight Bulldogs who redshirted last season, the 'Dogs add eight newcomers to the fold in 2018-19, including seven true freshman.
The Bulldogs add four California natives in Clovis native and four-time California High School state champion Justin Mejia along with Isaiah Perez from Turlock, Lawrence Saenz from Vacaville and Joseph Delgado from Gilroy.
The 'Dogs also bring in Air Force transfer Ricky Padilla, a San Dimas, Calif. native, in addition to Adam Kempfrom Illinois, Nick Casperson from South Dakota and Hunter Cruz from Washington.

Pledges for pins is designed to help support the Fresno State Wrestling Program. Proceeds will benefit the Fresno State Wrestling Fund for Excellence along with a portion contributing to the Valley Regional Training Center -- a nonprofit organization that supports Fresno State Wrestling.
It works like this, for example, if you pledge $5 per pin and the team accumulates 40 pins during the season, your pledge will be $200. Throughout the season, pins and pledges will be recorded and a letter will be mailed with your pledge amount and payment information.
